Role Overview

CD PROJEKT RED is seeking a highly experienced Lead VFX Artist to drive the next generation of high-fidelity visual effects for Project Sirius. This leadership role combines artistic vision, deep technical expertise, and team mentorship to elevate both storytelling and gameplay through immersive real-time VFX.

This full-time position can be hybrid, in-office (Boston, MA), or fully remote (eligible U.S. states only).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of VFX Artists, fostering growth and collaboration.
  • Design and implement impactful real-time VFX for gameplay and cinematic moments.
  • Maintain technical excellence and artistic consistency across the VFX pipeline.
  • Oversee performance optimization and ensure effects meet technical constraints.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with gameplay, cinematics, and environment teams.
  • Research and prototype new workflows, tools, and real-time techniques.
  • Coordinate with Directors and Production to align deliverables with milestones.
  • Manage external vendors by preparing briefs and reviewing outsourced VFX work.
  • Contribute to maintaining an efficient and scalable production pipeline.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a VFX Artist in game development.
  • Shipped at least one AAA title in a Lead VFX Artist or senior leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in Unreal Engine 5 and real-time VFX production.
  • Strong proficiency in real-time and baked simulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of VFX pipelines and tools, including SideFX Houdini.
  • Strong understanding of PBR workflows, shaders, lighting, and real-time rendering.
  • Advanced skills in performance optimization and debugging.
  • Proven leadership, mentorship, and team development experience.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing mastery in game VFX (required).
