About the Role

2K Sports Lab is seeking a Gameplay Animator to help create authentic and responsive sports gameplay experiences for a new AAA sports franchise. This role offers the opportunity to work with a world-class development team focused on innovation, realism, and player immersion.

Job Overview

The Gameplay Animator will collaborate closely with designers, engineers, producers, and animation leaders to implement realistic sports behaviors and polished gameplay features. You will work extensively with motion capture data, gameplay systems, and animation implementation to ensure world-class animation quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Animation Production: Edit, refine, and enhance motion capture data to meet gameplay, engine, and design requirements.
  • Feature Development: Collaborate with design and engineering teams to create and implement animation-driven gameplay features.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with animators, AI engineers, designers, and producers throughout the development process.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain a high standard of animation authenticity and realism, particularly in sports-related character movement.
  • Implementation Support: Integrate animation features into Unreal Engine while ensuring smooth gameplay functionality.
  • Previsualization: Contribute prototype assets, layouts, sketches, and cinematic previsualization materials when required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with gameplay animation and interactive character movement systems.
  • Strong understanding of sports movement and player behavior.
  • Experience editing and working with motion capture data.
  • Proficiency with Unreal Engine and animation implementation workflows.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Passion for sports, video games, and delivering high-quality player experiences.

Education

  • University degree in Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Commercial Art, Graphic Communications, Cartooning, or a related discipline required.
  • College diploma in Graphic Arts or a related field may be considered.
  • Training or education in multimedia design from a post-secondary institution is beneficial.
  • Portfolio demonstrating artistic ability and animation expertise is required.
