About the Role

2K Sports Lab is seeking a Senior Environment Artist to help build immersive and visually compelling worlds for a next-generation sports franchise. This role offers the opportunity to create high-quality environments that blend storytelling, artistic excellence, and technical performance within a collaborative AAA development team.

Job Overview

The Senior Environment Artist will design and develop detailed 3D environments, landscapes, and architectural assets while ensuring visual quality and optimization standards are met. Working closely with art, narrative, design, and technical teams, you will contribute to worldbuilding efforts that enhance gameplay and player immersion.

Key Responsibilities

Environment Creation: Develop high-quality 3D environments, landscapes, architecture, and supporting assets for game worlds.
Asset Development: Create textures and materials for both hard-surface and organic assets while maintaining artistic consistency.
Unreal Engine Production: Utilize Unreal Engine 5 tools and workflows to build visually rich and immersive environments.
Performance Optimization: Optimize assets and scenes for real-time performance while preserving visual fidelity.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with art, narrative, design, and technical teams to support gameplay and storytelling objectives.
Mentorship: Provide guidance, feedback, and support to junior artists while promoting best practices and artistic growth.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in video game development, including senior-level environment art contributions on at least two shipped AAA titles.
Strong proficiency with Maya, Unreal Engine, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, ZBrush, and Photoshop.
Deep understanding of PBR workflows, real-time rendering, and environment production pipelines.
Knowledge of architecture fundamentals, spatial composition, and environmental storytelling.
Experience optimizing assets and environments for performance across target platforms.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Game Art, Digital Arts, Animation, Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
Specialized training in environment art, 3D modeling, or real-time rendering is beneficial.
Portfolio demonstrating high-quality environment art for games is required.
